Welcome to the 2nd Annual Ithaca Chill Challenge…Dip or Dodge event!
The Ithaca Chill Challenge is an annual fundraising event for Ithaca Community Recovery. The challenge is similar to a “Polar Bear Plunge”, but with a twist.
Each participant will have their own page for donations,
and their donors can “vote” with their $$$ to either…
“Dip ’em” and they’ll have to run into the lake for a dip
let ’em “Dodge” and they’ll get to stay dry and watch from the shore!
On New Year’s Day at noon, the higher total for each participant prevails. Participants commit to doing whatever their friends, loved ones, co-workers, frenemies, siblings, and assorted other donors decide. Regardless of who winds up in the lake and who watches from the shore, all donations go to support ICR.
People who are active in the recovery community, the people who love and support them, the people who only know them, everyone will be able to come together to celebrate and to welcome in the new year. We are excited to launch this new event!
Last year we raised almost $22,000 and we hope to beat it this year!
Registration in advance is required, and fund-raising will be primarily on-line (with mail and in-person options as well). We hope that this will enable everyone to take part and help support this vital cause. If you’d like a copy of our poster to share, click Ithaca Chill Challenge Poster 2017.
- Prizes for the top three individual and team fundraisers
- Prizes for best costumes
- Gifts for participants raising over $150
Snacks and hot beverages will be provided during the event.
The money raised will be used to maintain and improve 518 West Seneca Street as a welcoming and secure home-base for our local recovery community.
The event is on January 1, 2017 at 1:00 pm at the Ithaca Yacht Club. The Ithaca Yacht Club is located at 1090 Glenwood Road, Ithaca, NY 14850.
…and don’t forget your camera!

A friend of Ithaca Community Recovery made a generous post-event donation to round us off to an even $21,000! Thank you dear Donna!
